United Dairymen of Idaho has awarded college scholarships to 19 Idaho students this year. The UDI Idaho Dairy Farm Family Scholarship program recognizes select high school seniors who are family members of Idaho dairy farmers.
Each $1,500 scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors and students enrolled in a post-secondary education institution. In addition, one student is selected to receive the $2,500 Bill and Charlotte Stouder Memorial Scholarship for $2,500. The Bill & Charlotte Stouder Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the highest scoring scholarship applicant each year in memory of Bill and Charlotte Stouder and as a tribute to their dedication to Idaho’s dairy industry.
Karianne Fallow, CEO of United Dairymen of Idaho, says it’s great to see the seniors taking the next step in their education. “Idaho’s dairy farm families are proud to support and invest in the future of the dairy industry and dairy farm family scholarships are just one way they’ve committed their resources to continue the legacy of dairy. Our dairy families are working hard every day to feed the world and it’s clear that the achievements of these scholarship winners are similarly situated to have a big impact on their worlds.” The 19 students were selected from 27 finalists who submitted applications. Scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic achievements, extra-curricular activities in school, community service, letters of recommendation and a written essay.
