This year’s presentation topics include:
“Your Audience is King: Connecting to Communicate Science over Sensationalism”
Jim White, RDN, ACSM
Today, more than ever, there is a great need for Health professionals to have a voice in nutrition/fitness and the media’s influence on it. With all sorts of information readily available at the click of a button, we have to carefully and skillfully navigate food fears, fad diets, and false information with our patients, clients, and audiences. We will explore how to connect with our audience, build trust, and establish credibility so that accurate nutrition information is communicated and myths are dispelled.
“Maximizing Nutrient Timing to Enhance Performance and Recovery”
Amy Goodson MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN
They say you are what you eat, but perhaps your performance and recovery are more tied to when you eat. Nutrient timing is essential over the course of the day as well as around workouts, both for the everyday workout person and the elite athlete. This session will cover how proper timing of macronutrients plays a role in health, satiety, weight management, performance and recovery and will highlight meal strategies you can use with your athletes and clients.
“Power Hour: Training Table Culinary Demonstartion”
High Performance Dietitian and Chef Allen Tran, MS, RDN, CSSD
With Olympic Snorboardcross Faye Gulini
“Go with the flow: how exercise, nutrition and blood flow work together for metabolic health”
Melinda Sheffield-Moore, PhD
This presentation covers research in amino acid metabolism and skeletal muscle protein synthesis and its interaction with muscle blood flow that is altered with exercise, aging, etc.
Also whey protein’s health benefits and how the efficacy of protein and amino acids are influenced by muscle health and flow.
