School Breakfast

Report

Released in late 2016, this school breakfast report measures the reach of the School Breakfast Program (SBP) throughout Utah by comparing the number of low-income children eating school lunch to the number of children eating school breakfast. This report:

• Describes alternative breakfast delivery models that can help increase school breakfast participation.

• Promotes the Partners for Breakfast in the Classroom grant for increasing school breakfast participation in high poverty schools.

• Gives recommendations for Utah’s school district leaders, education leaders at the state level, and for state legislators.

• Provides valuable school breakfast participation data tables that can help in assessing the success of current school breakfast programs.

Wellness Impact

Report

The GENYOUth Foundation, Fuel Up to Play 60, National Dairy Council, and the Dairy Council of UT/NV have come together to highlight a new report, “The Wellness Impact: Enhancing Academic Success Through Healthy School Environments,” which highlights the case that health is not a competing priority to academic performance; rather good nutrition and physical activity, can help students learn better. The report will help school leaders and parents take action.
