On America’s 200th Birthday, Liberty Jersey Farm was Born
The 2011 Nevada Farm Bureau annual meeting was held this year in Fallon, NV and included three tour stops including a visit to Nevada’s Liberty Jersey Farm.
Liberty Jersey Farm was established in 1976, and in honor of our country’s 200th birthday, the farm was named. Bill Christoph is a 3rd generation dairyman and has been milking cows since the farm’s inception. He and his wife Valerie have three grown children, one of whom is studying at Cornell to become a “new-age” dairy farmer. The Christoph’s top priority is cow comfort. Val believes, “If we take care of our cows, they will take care of us.” And that is exactly how Bill and Val treat their special herd of 450 cows. Each cow is monitored closely to ensure quality, and quality is what Liberty Jersey Farm delivers. And just how much quality do they deliver? Each of their jerseys produces 7 gallons of milk a day, which means a daily average of over 3,000 gallons of fresh, nutritious milk.
